KHALSA SCHOOL
Per the wishes of the Sangat, the long awaited Punjabi school is finally a reality.
The Punjabi school was formally named the Khalsa Punjabi School but now has been changed to Khalsa School. The first classes at this school started on January 18, 2009 with an overwhelming response from parents and students. From the first day, enrollment steadily increased. So strong was the response that a second afternoon session had to be added.
The current fall class session started on August 30, 2009. Total enrollment is approximately 322 students consisting of 25 individual classes. Class size ranges from 12-14 students. There is only one morning session. Session starts at 10am, with an assembly of all students, in Dashmesh Hall. After a short Kirtan recital by Bhai Pritam Singh and his local jatha, the students break out into their individual classes which are scattered throughout Dashmesh Hall and other adjoining buildings. Class sessions last for 2 hours. Class groups are determined according to students’ command of the Punjabi language and their age. Minimum student age is 6 years.
The Khalsa School is a major undertaking that would not be possible without the total support of the countless volunteers, parents, Gurdwara Management Committee, Sikh Temple Gurdwara Yuba City Sangat, and of course the students themselves.
Khalsa School Vision:
It is the vision of the Khalsa Punjabi School to treat all school children as our own.
Khalsa School Goal:
