Committee Accomplishments

KHALSA SCHOOL

The establishment of the Khalsa School represents the crown jewel in what this new Management Committee has been able to accomplish. Serving over 300 students, this project is a classic example of what can be accomplished when the full support of the Sangat gets behind the Management Committee.
Thanks to all the many volunteers who have spend countless hours to make the Punjabi school a big success.

CABLE TELEVISION PROGRAM

On May 23, 2009, a local cable television program was launched under the sponsorship of the Sikh Temple Gurdwara Yuba City. The program is called, “Jo Kichh Hai So Tera”. This program is half hour long and is aired every Saturday evening at 6:30 pm on Comcast Cable channel 18. The program features shabad gurbani kirtan, interviews, and special events of interest to the local Yuba City sangat.

BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS

  1. Due to the overwhelming response for the Khalsa Punjabi School, more space was needed for the student classes. The Board approved covering the open space between the two wings connecting Dasmesh Hall. Bids are being accepted for this project.
  2. Another remodeling project that is being undertaken is the creation of Akand Path rooms, modifications to the main stage holding the Palki, and the mini ragi jatha stage.
  3. The new rug has been installed in the Main hall resting on a much thicker pad for extra comfort and the interior Main hall has been newly painted.
  4. The new established grass has given the playing field a fresh start.
  5. The existing langar plastic trays have already replaced by new stainless steel trays.
  6. In the dining hall, the old metal chairs have been replaced with new plastic chairs.
  7. The parking lot on the West has been newly paved.
  8. Much needed tree trimming and removal have been completed at various sites. and new shade trees have been planted.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

According to the wishes of the Sangat, the Gurdwara voting membership fees have been reduced to $10.00 per person by Board action.
